OUR HISTORY
THE LEAGUE TODAY
reading & district youth netball league was established in 1932, when the local education authority decided that there was a need for girls to carry on playing netball after leaving school. the league original consisted of 6 teams, with matches played on grass pitches in local parks.

in 1964 'youth' was dropped from the leagues name because the age range of players had grown to include, not only school leavers, but mothers up to the age of 40. relatives and league committee members would keep a watchful eye on babies and children from the sidelines, and the sport in reading was a very family-orientated affair.
the league today is as vibrant as it has ever been with over 8 decades history, with some 60 teams & more than 300 members playing across 7 divisions.

we are a friendly and competitive league, with netballers playing at all levels, ranging in age from 14 years to over 50. over the past 20 years the league fixtures have been played at theale green school.
